The Living Room and Community Wellness Center Open in La Grange

REGIONAL HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENDA PROFILE

On September 29th, Community Memorial Foundation celebrated the opening of The Living Room and Community Wellness Center in La Grange. Developed in partnership with NAMI Metro Suburban and Pillars, these new regional assets represent a collaborative effort to create stigma-free communities that promote good mental and behavioral health and treat those in need.

The Living Room is open 365 days/year to adults 18 and over who are experiencing an increase in mental health symptoms. Guests can self-admit or be brought to the facility by a loved one or a member of law enforcement. Upon arrival, they are screened by a licensed clinical social worker and, if appropriate, referred to a recovery support specialist who will help them identify recovery obstacles, develop a wellness plan and link to peer support within the community.

The Living Room is a nationally-recognized model and proven alternative to the hospital emergency room; all services are provided free of charge and do not require insurance. It is located at 4731 Willow Springs Road and occupies the space with the new Community Wellness Center, which offers free mental health and wellness education and referrals.
